The Gospel

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3b

Have you ever considered eternity and where you will spend it? The Bible tells us that “it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27)

Each of us has an appointment with death. And each of us will face judgment. Are you ready to face God? We read that none of us is good enough for Heaven. “There is none that doeth good.” (Romans 3:12)  The fact that there are none that do good tells us there is a problem: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

There is a punishment for sin. “For the wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23a) Death is a separation. There are two types of death. Physical death is the death of the body. It is at the time of our physical death that we face judgment. The second death is spiritual death. That death is a separation from God and is eternal, forever.

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” (Revelation 1:8)

But here’s the good news! God has provided a way for the payment of our sin! Jesus Christ is that way: “I am the way, the truth, and the life…” (John 14:6) Romans 5:8 tells us “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

The problem: we are all sinners. The punishment: the second death. The provision: Jesus Christ. What next? “…except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3) “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

Profess Christ—call on Him today. Receive God’s promise. “…the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b) God promises to give eternal life. Won’t you accept Jesus Christ now, accept that gift that God has provided?
